Founded in 1861, the University of Washington has 43,000 students 31,000 undergraduate and 12,000 graduateprofessional and 3,400 instructional faculty divided into 17 schools and colleges. The Universitys annual operating budget is roughly $2.7 billion, 15 of which comes from the State. The University of Washington is one of the nations premier research universities.
