The Internet and the global communications age have leveraged the prolific spread of information. Consequently, information glut has become an important issue, thus requiring novel methods to filter and search the Web in order to adequately address the users individual information needs. DBIS This scenario defines the range of our research, extending across the domains of information systems, databases and Internet technologies. Our focus lies on recommender systems, meta search engines, XML technology for data streaming, multiuser solutions for Web serverbased information systems, and formal analyses of XML specifications.
