ICDT is a biennial scientific conference on research on the foundations of database systems. Having a European identity, it is typically held in beautiful historical European locations; since the 1995 edition it has settled on early January of oddnumbered years as its fixed spot in the worldwide schedule of conferences. ICDT can be seen as the European version of PODS the ACM Symposium on Principles of Database Systems.
